Awesome 1928 Washburn Model 1915 in fair condition and perfect playing order weighing in at 4lbs on the dot!
Made of Brazilian Rosewood, this guitar has seen numerous repairs throughout its almost 100 year journey. Most of these repairs
were performed by Paul Stroh, a luthier based out of the Seattle area and he did an incredible job.
The top of the headstock on the treble side had cracked, but not all the way through the veneer on the front of the headstock. Both the nut and
tuning machines have been replaced, while two holes (one on either side) from the original tuning plates have been doweled and finished over.
The ebony board is beautiful and sports brand new, period correct nickel-silver frets; there are signs the board had peeled from the neck near
the nut. There have also been cosmetic repairs done to the board, most notably around the 13th fret. The neck is a wide V, and there are a few
dents throughout, but due to the shape, I couldn't feel any of them when playing. The neck has been reset.
The body itself has had the majority of the repairs, with six obvious cracks lengthwise; these have been repaired and are quite stable. There
is a deep gouge through the finish near the lowest part of the treble-side and a few other dents and scratches throughout. The bridge has been
reglued and a brand new saddle was carved. There are two repaired dents on the top of the bass side, with one obvious crack on the back of the
bass side. There are signs of the back of the instrument being stressed from the neck dive, with a very slight warping; these have been repaired
and are stable.
For a parlor size guitar, it has pronounced lows and huge volume.
