1978 Gibson SG Custom finished in Alpine White.
This guitar has been a rock-n-roll machine for most of its life and it has battle scars to prove it. This SG Custom embodies rock-n-roll soul in every way. The wear and wounds all tell a story.
The bass side of the neck joint has a crack that does not travel too far but it can be seen in the photos. The neck heel finish has cracked away exposing the seam in areas.
The neck has never been removed, it’s just from lots of rock and the finish coming off.
The original nut appears to have been removed and reinstalled, most likely for a shim.
A previous owner scratched their initials into the back of the body, and this can be seen in the photos.
The finish is original and has lots of wear.
All three original tar back pickups are intact as well as the tuners, plastic parts, bridge and tailpiece. The pots, switch and caps are stock. That said someone got into this guitar and you can see evidence of non-original soldering and heat shrink tubing used for insulation.
The center pickup is out of phase with the bridge pickup.
Strap Lock buttons are installed.
The frets appear to be stock. They are small size fret wire and are low, basically a fretless wonder. They show wear and are super low, so a refret would improve playability. That said it is fully playable all the way up the finger board.
The bridge and tailpiece have lots of wear and some plating corrosion. The saddles are fully adjustable and the fine tuners on the tailpiece also work perfectly.
An SKB hard shell case is included.
